My walk with God

On the first day of the fast I had just dropped my daughter off at her grandmothers and was headed back home. I began to feel a sense that God wanted some alone time with me, so as I drive closer to home I found this nature trail. As I stepped out of the van I felt the wind and cold air come upon me. I started walking down the trail and ask God to speak to me and revel his will for my life.

What I've learned

Back in the Fall, when Borders was going out of business, I purchased a book called “Awakening” (21 days to Revolutionize your Relationship with God) by Stovall Weems. I thought, “Yeah, I’d like to do that!” Little did I know that it was pertaining to our 21 days of fasting at the beginning of the year.  It has been one of the best books I’ve read. It covered so many other things other than fasting (which helped me during the fast).

Dream on - I am for You!

In this fast, my desire was to grow closer to God in knowledge and in truth. I also wanted to be reminded of what I was created to be. Instead, God did beyond that and taught me how to believe and dream again. Somewhere along the busyness of life, I had lowered my expectations so God had room to blow my mind. Instead, during this fast He has reminded me that He doesn’t require my “room” just “space” to do what He desires to do.

Starting right... Finishing strong

This year, the 21 days to breakthrough started on January 2, 2012 (earlier in the new year that we have started in the past). This established the course of spiritual disciplines for the rest of the year. It’s like giving the LORD the first 3 weeks of the year and I am encouraged this year to give him the first of each day He blesses me with, the first day of my week, the first portion of every dollar He blesses me with, the first prayer in every problem I have or decision I need to make.

A Revelation

This time of fasting (something I have only done once before) has brought many things into perspective for me, most importantly that it is possible to have a very real and personal relationship with God.
